The Beauty of Living Lightly
I resist claiming a style; warm modern perhaps?! I only say this because we live now, but throw all notions of the word out. Context, place, use, and human behavior must lead. Architecture at its best is appropriate, not performative. California’s changing landscape presents challenges—fires, heat, water scarcity—but also opportunities. Homes can be smaller, smarter, and more connected to the land, generous not in size but in light, air, and calm.
Luxury is relief: durability, thoughtful materials, space that supports life. Every decision matters—finishes, illumination, eco-conscious materials, and careful form. Build less. Build better. Live closer to what is real. Beauty, dignity, and thoughtful design are possible for everyone when we begin there.
